In Loving Memory of
Charolette “Jeanne” Delwaide Umbright
June 18, 1940 – July 5, 2026
It is with deep love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Charolette “Jeanne” Delwaide Umbright, who was called Home on Sunday, July 5, 2026. Jeanne passed away peacefully at home in Texas, surrounded by her loved ones. At 86 years young, her kind heart and joyful spirit were a true gift to all who had the honor of knowing her.
Jeanne lived a life defined by faith, generosity, and unconditional love. Born on June 18, 1940, in Austin, Texas, to Leola Irene Pitts and Charles Henry Delwaide II. Jeanne was the eldest of her siblings: Mary Ann Marcaurelle, Charles "Charlie" Henry Delwaide III, and Joseph "Joe" Delwaide. She loved her sister and brothers dearly and beamed with pride at their successes and their loving families. As an active member of her Southern Baptist church, she grew up singing, playing piano, attending camps, and studying the Bible — a devotion she carried with her, throughout her life. Jeanne graduated from Arlington Heights, Class of 1958, and loved reminiscing about playing trumpet in the Polytechnic High School “Marching 100” Band in Fort Worth, Texas.
In 1959, Jeanne married George Ray Stewart and began the role she was meant for — “Mom” — welcoming her first daughter, Rae Jean, followed by two sons, George “Buddy” and Kevin. After this marriage ended, Jeanne found love again and in 1969 married Ted Umbright. Together they had two daughters, Jennifer and Jessica. Jeanne and Ted shared 57 wonderful years of marriage.
In 1974, the family moved to Stockton, California, where Jeanne began her more than 30-year career in the personnel department at Del Monte Foods. In 1986, while balancing full-time work and being a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Jeanne earned her associate in arts degree. She was a role model of faith, love, and hard work — teaching us to keep kindness and joy in our hearts and to never lose sight of the little things that make life beautiful.
Jeanne made people feel special, seen, valued, and loved. She put service above self and supported her communities in countless ways throughout her life — she organized Christmas adopt-a-family programs for many years, planned social events at work, volunteered for school and church activities, served as a hospital candy striper and participated in animal rescue. She was an active, joyful presence everywhere she went. She built not only a large and beautiful family, but also a family of friends who cherish her deeply. Her happiest moments were spent making memories with the people she loved — taking road trips, gathering around a game table for Pinochle, Bingo and puzzles, cooking delicious meals, and simply enjoying one another’s company. She loved to camp and could out-fish the best of them! Jeanne’s smile and laugh were contagious, and the lasting friendships she built and the family traditions she created will be passed on for generations.
A loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Jeanne was most proud of her large, loving family. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Mary Ann Marcaurelle, her daughter Rae Jean and sons Buddy and Kevin. She is survived by her:
• Husband: Ted Umbright
• Daughters and spouses: Jennifer Umbright; Jessica and Josh Zarate
• Brothers and spouses: Charlie Delwaide and Rebecca Mize; Joe and Cindy Delwaide; and brother-in-law Bob Marcaurelle

• Great-grandchildren: Tabytha, Jay, Sabrina, Zach, Rick, Alex and Amelia

Her legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her.
