Charles Henry Lewis Jr., affectionately known as "Butch" to those who cherished him, was born on February 8, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois. On May 11, 2026, he passed away in Denton, Texas, leaving behind a legacy marked by heartfelt dedication, a passion for mechanics, and the warmth of his loving family and friends.
Butch’s journey was one defined by skill and passion. After graduating high school, he pursued his love of automobiles through specialized education at UTI - Auto Tech Training. His talents were honed further throughout his career at Al's Mobile Repair and Midas, where he earned a reputation as a master mechanic capable of repairing any device with remarkable expertise. His enthusiasm for cars was not confined to the workshop; he loved attending car shows, immersing himself in the vibrant community that shares his fascination with all things automotive. These gatherings were not just hobbyist escapes but joyful celebrations of his lifelong passion.
Born to Charles H. Lewis and Odessa Fortenberry Lewis, who preceded him in death, Butch was part of a family that held strong bonds. He also mourned the earlier loss of his brothers Walter R. Brown and Nicholas Lewis, and his sister Tonya A. Lewis. Each family member’s memory was a thread woven deeply into the fabric of his life, shaping the man who became a pillar within his own circle.
Butch leaves behind his devoted partner, Priscilla Jackman, who stood by his side through life’s journey; his sisters Cathy Jordan, Wendy Lewis, Sherly Lewis, Michele Lewis, and Nicole Donnell; as well as an extended family of nieces and nephews who carried his spirit forward. Among them are Monique Freeman, Meleka Simons, Danielle Lewis, Ashley Lewis, Sharkeisa Lewis, Nikki Lewis, and Celine Robertson, along with Lataijah Lewis, Ronnie Smith, Darnell Thomas, Daryl Jones Jr., Kevin Belcher, Naurice Lewis, and Diavonte Lewis. Their lives remain enriched and forever touched by Charles’s steadfast presence and gentle heart.
In remembering Butch, we honor a man whose hands could coax life back into troubled engines and whose heart nurtured the bonds of family with quiet strength and tenderness. His memory lives on in every repaired engine, in every car show he graced with his excited smile, and most deeply in the hearts of those who loved him. Charles Henry Lewis Jr.'s story is one of love, resilience, and a passion that never waned—leaving a lasting imprint on all fortunate to have known him.
A special thanks to the staff of doctors and nurses in ICU at Medical City Denton for their care of Butch.
