Catherine Graham

August 27, 1932 — April 1, 2025

Missionary Catherine Jones Graham, 92, was born on August 27, 1932, in Fairfield, Freestone County, Texas, to Freemen Jones and Lucille Mims-Jones. She peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman Jones and Lucille Mims-Jones; brother, Richard Jones; three sisters, Ezra Lee Jones, Lavada English, and Janette Nolan; her eldest son, Leonard Dewayne Jones; stepmother, Lula Jones; stepsister, Leola Johnson; and stepbrother, George Williams Jr.

A woman of deep faith, wisdom, and compassion, Missionary Catherine Jones Graham served her church and community for many years. As an ordained missionary, she was not only a dedicated Sunday school teacher but also an active member of the Outreach Ministry, where she went into the community to witness, pray, and share God's love. Her ministry extended to visiting the sick, comforting families in times of grief, and offering prayers for healing and strength. She was also a member of the choir and served on the Mother's Board as a mentor as a mentor and spiritual guide, where she became affectionately known as "Mother Graham"-a title that reflected the love, respect, and wisdom she imparted to all who knew her.

Outside the church, Catherine worked tirelessly to care for her family. She attended night school to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and worked in nursing homes, later transitioning into a career that better supported her family. However, her heart for helping others never wavered.

Her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 1:17-18, encapsulated her life's mission: to help others gain understanding, walk in the light, and discover the hope and calling that God placed on their lives. She didn't just speak of her faith-she lived it, one prayer, one visit, and one word wisdom at a time.

Catherine's legacy lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind: her children, Thurman R. Jones, Rickey Britton (wife, Tammy Coney), Michael Britton, Frieda Britton Porter (husband, James Porter), and Cynthia Britton Yates. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Loleta Wallace, Brandy Jones (husband, Bennie West), Monique Jennings, Ryan Porter (wife, Melody), Trey Scott (wife, Monika), and Amber Ford (husband, Damon Evans).

Her great-grandchildren include Lelani Wallace, Tristen Wallace, Blair Wallace, Brenyae West, Brennen West, Jailey Ernest, Ryan Porter II, Adryan Guzman, Chrystian Guzman, Diontae Scott, Damonate Scott, Lauryn Scott, Sydney Scott, Sophia Scott, Savannah Scott, Mariah Evans, and Isiah Evans.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt "Special Thanks" to the extended family, friend, and prayer warriors who cared for Missionary Catherine Jones Graham during her time of need. May God's blessings rain down upon you all.
