Carl Edward Craig

Carl Edward Craig, 61, of Point, Texas, formerly of Alvarado, Texas, passed away on September 6, 2026. 

Carl was born on October 20, 1964, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to James Muir Craig and Joyce Elaine Broomfield. He earned his high school diploma and spent his working years as a professional truck driver. Life on the road suited Carl, but it was the time spent with the people he cared about that meant the most.

Carl enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved fishing, hunting, shooting pool, playing dominoes and darts, and, as those who knew him best would say, sometimes just “tinkering around.” Whether he was enjoying one of his favorite hobbies or spending time with friends and family, Carl had a way of making memories in the everyday moments.

Carl is survived by his loving wife, Darla Daun Pannell; his mother Joyce Broomfield and his children and their families: Sam and Valine Craig, and their children, Cole, Lana, Lily, Blake, and Blayne; Amy and Shannon Smithers, and their children, Mason and Landon; Bryce Craig; Donna and Chris Monk, and their children, Nathan, Kaelin, Kayla, and Colten; Randall and Christy Robinson; and Derek and Jocelyn Robinson, and their children, Levi and McKinley.

 He is also survived by his sister, Kay Chavez, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Carl also leaves behind his best friends, Paul and Christy Bell, who were far more than friends to him—they were family, loved like a brother and sister. 

Carl was deeply loved, and his life will continue to be remembered through his children, grandchildren, family, and the friends who became family. The memories, stories, laughter, and moments they shared with him will remain a lasting part of his legacy. 

He was preceded in death by his father, James Craig; his brother, James Craig; and his Dad Wynn Broomfield. 

Carl’s life will be remembered through the stories, laughter, and memories shared by those who knew and loved him. Though his passing leaves an empty place in the hearts of his family and friends, the memories made with him will continue to be carried forward.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 14, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

May Carl rest peacefully, free from pain, and may those who loved him find comfort in the memories they shared with him.
