December 28, 1947 – May 31, 2025
Her smile, faith, and joyful spirit were a blessing to all who knew her.
John 14:1–3 (NIV)
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms... I am going there to prepare a place for you.”
Bonnie (Plummer) Johnson, 77, of Arlington, Texas, peacefully passed away on May 31, 2025, in Mansfield, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Corpus Christi, she graduated from W.B. Ray High School and attended Durham Business College. In 1965, she married her childhood sweetheart, Joseph “Joe” Johnson.
They spent 38 years in Lake Jackson raising their two daughters and later moved to Arlington to be near family. Bonnie dedicated 35 years to the Social Security Administration, where she was known for her compassion and service.
A Life of Faith & Service
A woman of strong faith, Bonnie was an active and committed church member throughout her life. She began her spiritual journey at St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Corpus Christi. In Lake Jackson, she was a devoted member of Christ Lutheran Church, serving as a Youth Group Leader, Church Council Member, and Altar Guild Member.
In Arlington, Bonnie found a church home at Shepherd of Life Lutheran Church, where she spent 18 meaningful years volunteering in the Food Pantry, Arlington Life Shelter, Meals on Wheels, and faithfully serving as an Altar Guild member and leader.
Her faith was the foundation of her life and was reflected in everything she did. She cherished learning about the Bible and participating in adult Sunday School classes at her church and Elsie’s Monday Morning Bible Study.
Bonnie also gave her time to civic and community organizations, including the Jaycees in Lake Jackson and the Ladies Golf Association at Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield.
A Devoted Wife, Mother & “Grammie”
Bonnie was a faithful wife, mother, and truly the rock of her family. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when needed most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. She was incredibly proud of her two daughters and taught them the importance of a smile, strength, kindness, and most importantly the love of Jesus.
In 2007, she became “Grammie” to her only granddaughter, Michaela, whom she loved beyond words. She looked forward to every moment they spent together and proudly supported her at every school event, especially during marching band season and art exhibits. She never missed a chance to share photos or stories about her granddaughter with anyone willing to listen.
Bonnie’s favorite pastime, however, was being with her beloved and devoted husband, Joe. They loved to travel, play golf, enjoy a nice dinner, serve their community, enjoy time with family and friends, and dance cheek to cheek to their favorite songs and bands.
Her warm smile, kindness, and joyful spirit were contagious as she never met a stranger and always made others feel welcomed and cared for.
She Is Preceded In Death By: Daughter Bobbie Jo Johnson, parents Woodrow & Ruby Plummer, and sister Betty Jo Plummer.
She Is Lovingly Survived By: Husband of nearly 60 years, Joe Johnson, oldest daughter Bonnie Marrs (Michael), granddaughter Michaela Marrs, sister Patsy McGlothlin, brother Ikie Plummer (Kitty), and 1 niece and 2 nephews.
