Janis Victoria Boe

July 13, 1946 — January 30, 2022

Janis Victoria Boe (AKA Mama Jan), 75, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022.

She was born on a hot summer day on July 13, 1946, in San Diego, California to Robert & Florine Stone.

As Janis grew into adulthood she met and fell in love with Selmer “Sammy” Boe. They made their love official on November 17, 1966, in Burleson, Texas. In the years following, Jan and Sam traveled the country chasing stardom with Sammy’s band Sweet Smoke. She had a strong passion for music and was known to take the long way home while driving just to listen to a song one more time.

Janis had a love for horseback riding from a young age and was an Amarillo Range Rider Queen in 1962. After her first son Trent was born, family became her main priority. From then on, she was a dance mom, cheerleading mom, karate mom, football mom, rodeo mom, and all in all a strong supporter of anything her kids or grandkids were interested in doing.

Through the years the Boe household had an “open door” policy to anyone who needed a place to stay or a family at the holidays. Jan welcomed everyone in like they were her own, nobody went without a Christmas present in her house. She was happy to “mother” anyone in need and that love to care for those in need translated to her children and continues to this day. She had a deep love for Coca Cola… or “Mama Jan juice” as it was aptly named by her grand kids. She collected any and everything Coca Cola.

Her absence here on this earth has left a giant hole in our hearts, but knowing she is in the arms of Jesus is what brings us so much peace and joy. Often times in these last few years before her passing she would call one of her children asking about certain scriptures and meanings in the Bible. She had a hunger to know Him more and truly was not afraid to enter the pearly gates of Heaven. We rejoice knowing she is now with her Lord and Savior along with her parents that she missed dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Florine Stone. Sister-In-Law Kay Boe, Aunt Ethel Chisolm, Cousins Barbara Starnes and Sandra Thompson.

She is survived by her loving husband, Selmer (Sammy) Boe; children, Trent & Opal Boe, Aaron & Christine Boe; Victoria & Jason Cuevas, Samantha & Charles Hilton, Holly & John Martinez, Kady & Josh Weathers; sister, Glenda Czikalla and her husband Robert; grandchildren, Lauren Sanchez, Breanna Sheets ,Shannon Demeis, Savanna Boe, Tristen Shield, Josie Martinez, Charli Martinez, Tanner & Tatum Cuevas, Chessie, Brynum, Emerson & Everly Hilton, Cooper, Justice, Teagan, Ruby, Pearl & Asher Weathers; great grandchildren, Kailee and Nixon Sheets; Sister in Law Sharon Hutto and her husband Stan, Cousins Raymond & Carolyn Meals, niece, Heather Boe Torbay and husband Rami, nephew, Jason Boe and wife Brook, along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved so dearly.
