It is with heavy hearts that we share the life journey of Andrea Mata Colgrove, who departed this world on January 31, 2026, in Mansfield, Texas. Born on December 3, 1962, in Waco, Texas, Andrea was the eldest of nine children and embraced a life filled with love, creativity, and a dedication to family that left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Andrea was not just a baker at Market Street Bakery; she was a creator of joy, a weaver of memories, and an artist of life. With over 20 years of experience, she transformed flour and sugar into sweet delights that brought smiles to countless faces. Her talents extended beyond the kitchen; she lovingly crafted wedding bouquets and floral centerpieces for her daughters-in-law, pouring her heart into each arrangement, much like she did with everything she touched. Andrea's crafting skills flourished in her ability to construct beautiful wreaths, showcasing her keen eye for detail and her innate desire to spread beauty in the world.
Throughout her life, Andrea embodied selflessness, kindness, and humor, radiating warmth and compassion to all around her. She lived by the teachings of her savior, Jesus Christ, and her generous spirit was evident in her unwavering support of family and friends. She was a trustworthy confidant, a fierce advocate, and a loving presence who enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Andrea is survived by her beloved partner, Mike Carmona, and sons Matthew (and wife Krystin), Stephen (and wife Briana), Nathan (and wife Sarah), Aaron (and wife Nina), and Michael Anthony Carmona. She leaves behind a thriving legacy in her grandchildren: Zigmin Fox Colgrove, Yu-Chi Anna Elise Colgrove, EJ Carmona, Mary Elizabeth Colgrove, Bowen Colgrove, and Zuriel Thorin Colgrove. Andrea is also cherished by her sisters Margerita Zurita and Elaine Cottrell, her brothers David Ortiz, Vincent Ortiz, and Mario Rodriguez, along with numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Sadly, Andrea was preceded in death by her son, Johnathan Lee Colgrove, and her parents, Joaquin "Blue" Lopez Jr. and Mary Elma Mata Ortiz. She also joins her siblings, LG Rodriguez, Samantha Suarez, and Cassandra Rodriguez, in eternal rest. Their spirits will forever be intertwined with hers, reminding us of her enduring legacy of love and light.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on February 15, 2026, at Alsbury Baptist Church in Burleson, Texas, where family and friends will gather to honor Andrea's memory and the happiness she brought into their lives.
Andrea Mata Colgrove will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her to love more deeply, share generously, and embrace the beauty in every moment.
