Arabella Alvarez

Our loving mother, Arabella Alvarez, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in Mansfield, Texas. She was 86 years young and full of life.

Celebration of Life: 2:00pm Friday, September 10, 2021 at Skyvue Funeral Home.

She was born on September 23, 1934 in Manzanillo, Cuba. She was the fourth child out of nine siblings, to Filiberto and Digna Aguero. Her childhood was spent in Cuba until she met the love of her life, Rafael Alvarez. They raised their family in Queens, New York until resettling in Texas. She was married to her loving husband for 59 years.

Our mother was full of life and loved always being on the go. She enjoyed spending her free time playing Bingo, going to casinos to play her slot machines and cooking for her family and friends. She found joy feeding those that she loved. Most of all, she adored her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also looked forward to her weekly calls from her loving niece, Eunice Quagliano, who she loved very much. We will always remember her feisty attitude, love for cooking and shiny things. She will be missed more than words can even be expressed. There is no other "Abuela" like her.

Arabella is preceded in death by her parents, Filiberto and Digna Aguero; and her husband, Rafael Alvarez.

She is survived by her three children: daughter, Arabella Johnson (Darnell), son, Armando Alvarez (Maricruz), daughter, Alicia McClendon. In addition, Jerri Alvarez (James P.), and Rick McClendon. She also leaves behind her 10 beautiful grandchildren, their spouses; 17 great-grandchildren; four brothers; two sister-in-laws; eight nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
