Eulogy I gave during his memorial Service:

Today we remember Jack Eugene Walker.

He was and still is the man who gave His life for those closest to him who knew him best.
How can you capture the sum of a person's life and all they did?

I remember many things about him, his quite patience and stoic disposion that made him a man of humble virtue few truly knew.

He was Dad to me and My brother, Husband to one woman My Mother, A Son of God's chosen children, Uncle to Many Neices and Nephews, Brother to Sisters and a Brother, Papaw to two Grand Children and friend to anyone who He had the honor of meeting.

He was an artist of pencil and just about everything He could get a hold of including me and my brother. I remember watching him with wonder, draw an eagle line by line and learned the skill myself and this day I render my own from time to time.

Those who did know him, saw his character shine through when times were tough or needed his help, he was there, again and again. He was reliable and his word was a sure as the one who set the stars in the places. He said it and you didn't doubt it.

I remember his smile, understanding gentle looks and big strong hands that worked hard for His family for almost half a century to make sure we never went without. He never gave up or quit. His sense of order was one of, I'll rest when the job is done. From car repairs to just about anything that needed fixing he would take care of it including the smallest of details you would never notice. He did more for those who may not even realize it yet, but will know it as the fruits of his labor begin to show now and in the coming days that will testify of His faith and vigilant prayer over all of His family even those who did not hear them.

His love is no matter what even of you did this or that. His legacy is not mere money or things, but love mercy, peace, joy and right living that he gave to me and everyone of His family members so we can give them to those we have been entrusted with.

Most of all I will always remember him as my Dad and that will never ever change. He endured many years and seasons with grace and a hopeful heart his family would come to terms of peace and shared labor to one day sit together at the same table with Christ at the head seated with us. This was his prayer always and what he wanted most for us all. John 17 is the heart of His last will and treatment. Matthew 6:10 is the crown that He wore everyday.

He was not only the man who raised my brother and I to honor the Lord, everyone great and small, but he was my friend and brother in Christ who affirmed "The Lord Touched Your Heart" as He was tucking me into sleep after our family watched the movie, Jesus of Nazareth when I was a boy.

We talked often over the last few years about how short this life we have been given really is and why we even have as much as we do. We will all close our eyes one final time in this life and open them in the next. Grace gives us time to learn and decide where our eternal existence will be and we can only choose when given the terms. These are in John 3:16 Romans 10:9

We will all be on the others side of this casket one day, so before our steps end in this life, we must prepare our heart to be ready for the day we begin our steps in eternity. He was ready. If you are here today and you aren't really sure that you are ready to pass from this life into the next, don't wait until you have no time left to decide. Please come talk with me after this service and we can make sure and get you ready! There is no better time then now. My Dad would be full of joy to know that you decided to believe and return to the Lord. Nothing else matters more. It's why we are given all this time from birth to this moment.

Here on earth he was the man I looked up to, learned from and did his best to show me and family who he was following. He went to Glory to be with our Lord, just a few steps ahead of us. Thank you for always being there and the light you showed us all while we were together. We will take it from here. Love you Dad. Rest Well, see you soon. John 16
